💡 Growing tips

Easy, forgiving, and fast — ideal even for first-time gardeners. Sow seeds just 0.5 cm deep, either under cover in April for an earlier start, or direct outdoors from May once all frost has passed. Thin or transplant seedlings to 30 × 30 cm spacing in a sunny or lightly shaded spot with fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly, feed occasionally, and deadhead spent blooms to keep the plant flowering right through until the first autumn frost. Naturally pest- and disease-resistant and rarely troubled by anything.

🐛 In the garden

African marigolds are classic companion plants — their roots release compounds that deter soil nematodes, and their strong scent is known to confuse aphids, whiteflies, and other pests. Plant 'Mona' generously between tomatoes, beans, and brassicas in the vegetable garden, or pair with calendula and nasturtium in ornamental beds for a cheerful, pest-resistant combination.
