White Beauty
Lacy white umbels above feathery foliage
Perennial☀️ Full sun✂️ Cut flower

Flat, dense umbels of pure white flowers held high on upright stems above a low mound of fine, fern-like foliage — a calm, brightening presence in the summer border. Long-flowering, utterly hardy, and beloved by bees and butterflies, 'White Beauty' looks at its best planted in generous drifts and is equally good for fresh bouquets or winter drying.

💡 Growing tips

Plant rhizomes from March to May at a depth of 10–15 cm, with 25–30 cm between plants so each clump has room to spread. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil — yarrow actively prefers lean ground and will flop in rich or overly moist conditions. Drought-tolerant once established and asks little in return. Cutting back spent flower heads in midsummer will often prompt a second flush of bloom. Fully hardy across the Baltic region; the clumps overwinter reliably in the ground and come back stronger each year.

✂️ For cutting & drying

Harvest when the umbels are fully open and the tiny florets are showing pollen — stems cut too early will wilt. Expect 7–10 days in the vase with fresh water. For drying, hang bunches upside-down in a dark, airy place; the flat heads retain their shape beautifully and add a lacy, papery texture to winter arrangements. Classic partners include cornflowers, grasses, and other cottage-garden perennials.
